How to play Lightning Duel

Lightning Duel is a barrage of ever-changing mini challenges: riddles, logic puzzles, sequences, mental maths, timed lists, anagrams, odd one out, estimates, memory, reflexes and more. Each challenge takes less than a minute and is worth one point. It's the perfect game for a group night where nobody gets bored: the maths whizz shines in lightning maths, the one with a great memory wins the objects round, and the fastest fingers rule the reflex test.

Step-by-step rules

  1. Create your teams in the “Your teams” panel (2 to 6).
  2. Each turn, a random challenge appears. Spoken challenges are answered out loud: the first correct answer wins. Press “Show solution” to check.
  3. Interactive challenges measure each team's result and automatically highlight the best one.
  4. At the bottom, choose who gets the point: one team, several teams or nobody.
  5. “Award and next challenge” adds the points and moves on to the next challenge.
  6. Use “Challenge types” to switch off any categories you don't enjoy.

The 14 challenge types

  • Riddles and logic: classic brain teasers and trick questions where the obvious answer is almost always wrong.
  • Sequences: numbers and letters to complete, from prime numbers to the initials of the days of the week.
  • Lightning maths: a sum to solve in 10 seconds, minding the order of operations.
  • Timed lists and anagrams: vocabulary and speed challenges with words.
  • Odd one out and best guess: general knowledge, where the closest guess to the real number wins.
  • How many dots? A cloud of dots visible for just 3 seconds.
  • Blind stopwatch: stop the clock at exactly 10 seconds without seeing it.
  • Memory and Simon: 15 objects to remember and an ever-growing colour sequence.
  • Reflexes: press as soon as the light turns green, but watch out for false starts!
  • Letter grab: find the longest word you can make from the letters drawn.

How many players do you need?

Just 2 people are enough, but the game is built for 2 to 6 teams. In the reflex test each team has its own button and keyboard key, so everyone can play at once on a single device. A game of 15-20 challenges takes about 20-25 minutes.

Frequently asked questions

Who decides who gets the point?

The host. In interactive challenges the game automatically suggests the best team, but the final call is yours.

Can I play only some challenge types?

Yes: open “Challenge types” and switch off the ones you don't want. The deck updates instantly.

Do challenges repeat?

Fixed challenges never repeat until the whole deck has been played. Sums, dots, letters and memory objects are generated fresh every time.

Does it work on a smartphone?

Yes. On phones the reflex buttons become tap zones, and every challenge adapts to the screen.
