How to play Guess the Top 10
Guess the Top 10 is the TV-style team quiz where you uncover a hidden ranking one slot at a time. A category appears on screen, like “The 10 most populous countries” or “The 10 best-selling video games of all time”, along with a board of ten hidden slots. Teams take turns giving an answer: if it's on the list the slot flips and the team scores points, if it isn't the turn passes to the next team. It's perfect to cast to the TV at a party: the host types and everyone else plays.
Step-by-step rules
- Create your teams in the “Your teams” panel (2 to 6).
- The host reads out the category. The team on turn, highlighted on the scoreboard, calls out an answer.
- The host types it and presses Enter. No need for perfect spelling: the game tolerates typos and accepts alternative names.
- If the answer is on the list, the slot flips and the team scores points based on its position: No. 1 is worth 10 points, No. 10 is worth 1.
- If it isn't (or you press “Wrong” or Esc), the turn passes to the next team. The turn also passes after a correct answer.
- Press “Next category” to switch lists; “Show all” reveals the remaining slots without awarding points.
- At the end of the game, the team with the most points wins and scores +1 on the overall team leaderboard.
More than 50 rankings
Geography (the biggest countries, rivers, mountains, lakes, islands and cities), science (elements in the Earth's crust, bodies in the solar system, precious metals), sport (Champions League, Grand Slams, Ballon d'Or, Formula 1), film and music (best-selling films and albums, top-grossing franchises), technology (social networks, apps and YouTube channels) and fun facts like the most common phobias. Rankings are based on public data from around 2025.
Strategies
- Aim high: the top positions are worth far more points, but they're also the most obvious and go first.
- Listen to your rivals: every revealed slot gives clues about what's missing.
- Don't repeat: an answer that's already been found won't cost you the turn, but it won't score anything either.
Frequently asked questions
How many points is each answer worth?
Position n is worth 11 - n points: first place 10 points, second 9, and so on down to tenth place, worth 1 point.
Do the game points go on the overall leaderboard?
No: slot points decide the winner of the game, who then gets +1 on the overall leaderboard. That way Guess the Top 10 counts as much as every other game.
Can one team play alone?
Yes: play to complete the board with as few wrong answers as possible.
What if a correct answer isn't recognised?
Try typing it another way (for example “USA” or “United States”). The host always has the final say.
