How to play Hidden Word Link
Hidden Word Link is the word association game where five clues hide a single word. Five words appear on screen one by one, such as “Honey · Light · Full · Blue · Walk”, and the answer is the word that links to all five, in this case “Moon” (honeymoon, moonlight, full moon, blue moon, moonwalk). The links can be compound words, idioms, film or book titles and famous characters. Teams have 40 seconds to crack it.
Step-by-step rules
- Create your teams in the “Your teams” panel and choose a level: Easy, Hard or All.
- Press “Go!”: the five words are revealed one at a time and the 40-second timer starts.
- Teams confer quietly. You can stop the clock with “Stop” as soon as everyone has an answer, and resume it if needed.
- Each team types its word in its own field, then press “Check”: the field turns green if it's right and red if it's wrong.
- Every team that gets it right scores +1 point. Then the explanation of all five links appears.
- “Next word” moves on to the next puzzle: they never repeat until all have been played.
How many players do you need?
You can play with 2 or more people. The ideal format is 2 to 6 teams of 2-4 players: working it out together is half the fun. Each round lasts about a minute, and a game of 10-15 words takes around 15 minutes.
More than 80 hidden words
Puzzles come in two levels. Easy ones use everyday compound words like “sunflower” or “toothbrush”. Hard ones need more general knowledge, from idioms and fairy tales to films and famous landmarks. Answers are checked generously: capital letters, spaces and punctuation don't matter, and common plurals are accepted.
Strategies for finding the word
- Start with the oddest clue: it has the fewest possible links and narrows the search fast.
- Try it before and after: the answer can come after the clue (“honeymoon”) or before it (“moonlight”).
- Think of idioms: many answers are hidden in sayings and expressions.
- Always write something: a wrong answer doesn't cost you points.
Frequently asked questions
Can several teams score in the same round?
Yes: every team that writes the right word gets a point.
Do capitals and spelling details matter?
No. The check ignores capitals, accents, spaces and apostrophes, and accepts common variants like plurals.
What if nobody gets it?
Nobody scores and the solution appears with every link explained. You can also use “Show solution” to skip a puzzle.
Are the puzzles the same as in the Italian version?
No: word puzzles can't be translated, so the English version has its own set written specifically for English.
